Two-day Free Medical and Vision Clinic Wraps Up in Mayfield

Partnership between Kentucky Association of Health Plans and Remote Area Medical serves over 182

MAYFIELD, KY. (May 15, 2022) – Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP), the trade association representing all commercial insurers and Medicaid managed care organizations in the Commonwealth and Remote Area Medical (RAM®), a major nonprofit provider of pop-up clinics delivering free care to those, wrapped up their free, two-day medical and vision clinic at Mayfield Middle School.  The clinic served over 182 people.

“It was truly an honor to help serve the good people of Mayfield,” said Tom Stephens, Executive Director of Kentucky Association of Health Plans.  “We said back in Dec. we wanted to help through all stages of the recovery and that is exactly what we are doing.  There is still a great need for support.”

Free glasses were made on-site. Free take-home colon cancer screening test kits were also provided to clinic attendees. Children received free coats, shoes, and snow cones.

In Dec., KAHP donated $100,000 to tornado relief efforts. KAHP partners have given over $2M in monetary and in-kind contributions, deployed clinical staff to high needs areas, offered additional mental health supports, delivered food, water, PPE, hygienic products, and baby formula, and coordinated bloodbanks and other volunteer efforts.
